Top three extend lead

Dan Brown - played well in our defeat to Tranmere
Carlisle's game against Wigan was off so they could do no more than watch as that top three all recorded wins. Walsall won at Bury, Macclesfield at Preston and Blackpool proved too strong for Stockport and had the biggest win of the day.

Walsall needed a win to ensure they stayed top and they made no mistake with a 3-1 win at Bury, and they needed it as second place Blackpool went nap in their home fixture against Stockport County.

Macclesfield remain in third place after they won 1-0 at Preston but Carlisle today Carlisle played one of their games in hand and got themselves ever closer with a 2-0 win over Blackpool. They should, with their other games in hand, climb into second place with a reasonable run of results. It was earlier in the season when the Carlisle coach said it was a real test for them to play against a side as good as Burnley but they are now well clear of us, in fact we dropped another place in the table after going down to defeat at home to Tranmere.

We're away this coming Saturday - we take on Stockport who are currently two places and five points above us although we have no fewer than six games in hand.
