Three in three for youth leaders Preston

Having beaten both Accrington and Port Vale without conceding a goal, the only downside in game three against the Latics was the goals against column moving up after a 4-2 win. It's a win that keeps them those two points ahead of both Tranmere and Walsall, two more victorious teams from the weekend fixtures.

Walsall beat Shrewsbury at home whilst Tranmere were winners at Oldham who were playing their first game of the season having just returned home from Holland.

Besides the top three, the only other unbeaten side are Burnley. Our 2-1 win against Morecambe last Saturday made it two out of two. Already the Blackpool coach has said we are the ones to watch this season. Time will tell on that one.

Down at the bottom there are three teams still to register a point. Besides Oldham losing their opener, both Morecambe and Port Vale have now lost three out of three with Port Vale replacing Morecambe in bottom place after suffering a 4-1 home defeat against Rochdale, the biggest loss of the weekend.

Blackpool, Bury and Fleetwood were also winners with the two Fylde Coast clubs recording their first victories of the season.

Leaders Preston don't play this week giving the teams behind them a good chance to claim top spot. Walsall, one of the teams on seven points, travel up to Carlisle; Tranmere are at home to the Clarets.
