It was Walsall who came out on top with a 3-1 win and that's moved them into third place behind North End and Stockport who had an easy 4-1 win against bottom of the league Port Vale.
Stockport might have hit four but there were two sides who netted more and that has to lead us to Morecambe where there were eleven goals scored. It was almost 'throw one in' stuff as Oldham beat the home side 8-3 and only Preston have now scored more goals than the Latics.
Bury were also big winners away from home with a 5-1 success over strugglers Blackpool at Squires Gate. The result has left Blackpool floundering next to the bottom of the league, their position worsened by both Accrington and Chester picking up points in away draws.
Burnley, as we previously reported, suffered heavily at home to Carlisle and there was also a win for Tranmere who beat Shrewsbury.
Next week sees the injury hit young Clarets back on their travels. We play at Bury on Saturday morning. The game will be played either at Lower Gigg or Goshen and we'll confirm that later in the week.
