Still second despite big defeat

It was a somewhat depleted team that took part in the game. Some of the players released were not included and goalkeeper Mark Crossley was with the first team at Coventry. The recent results have been disappointing, and we’ve been conceding a lot of goals, but this should not be allowed to distract from the fantastic season they have had.

Winning the league looks unlikely now, even though Oldham dropped those points against Preston they still remain twelve points clear of us, although we do have two games in hand.

Hopefully we’ll go on and lift the Lancashire FA Youth Cup, because there’s no doubt at all that these lads deserve to pick up a trophy this season, and go one better than the teams of the previous two seasons who have lost in finals.

We’re back in action this Saturday when we travel to Squires Gate to take on Blackpool and will look to get back to winning ways after losing the last three league games.

Blackpool 0 Walsall 0
