The biggest first round winners were Carlisle who won 4-0 at Darlington, whilst Rotherham were 3-0 winners at Walsall as were Morecambe in their home game against Chester. Perhaps the biggest surprise was Wrexham's defeat to Wigan. A scoreline of Wrexham 0 Wigan 2 wouldn't surprise too many people but at youth level Wrexham are having a better season than the Premier League club.
Leaders in our league are currently Bury and they came from behind to beat Port Vale and all of Preston, Stockport and Walsall from our league were winners. Shrewsbury, our next opponents, were the one club to receive a buy in the first round.
The full first round results were;
