Shrews miss chance to go top

They did go in front early in the second half and were within ten minutes of getting that win until Wigan drew level and then they had to face an onslaught from the home team but hung on to get a point.

It was one of only four games played but Walsall pushed themselves closer to the top with a comprehensive win over Morecambe. They are just two points behind Shrewsbury now and with a game in hand.

Fleetwood moved up to fourth with a win at Accrington and Wrexham beat Rochdale in Saturday's other game.

There are two games today. Preston beat Port Vale this afternoon, and that result is reflected in the league table below, whilst Bury face Tranmere this evening with a 7 p.m. kick off.

Having had a week off, Burnley will be hoping to improve on a difficult start to the season which has yielded only two wins in eight games with our last game ending in a 4-0 defeat at Wigan.

It is believed that the team will be returning to Gawthorpe for this fixture, but that will be confirmed later in the week.

The results of the last week are below along with this week's fixtures, Burnley's goalscorers and the current league table.
