Second at Christmas

Given that we've only dropped two points all season it is remarkable that we are not at the top, a position we held from the start of the season until a couple of weeks ago, and more so that we are only one point clear of third place.

Carlisle are the leaders with one point more than ourselves whilst Wrexham sit just a point behind us. Both though have played two games more which gives us every opportunity to get back into top place in the new year.

Blackpool, who are struggling near the bottom, are the only side to have taken a point from us and Shrewsbury knocked us out of the Youth Alliance Cup and that needed a penalty shoot out which we lost 9-8.

Saturday should have given us a chance to go back to the top but our home game against Oldham was called off following the heavy rain on Saturday. Only two games did go ahead with Wrexham and Chester both winning.

Yesterday Accrington and Rochdale drew 2-2 and that gave Stanley their first point of the season after twelve successive defeats.

We're next in league action on 10th January when we play Oldham away and by then we should have news of a date and venue for the Everton game.

Well done lads and best of luck for the rest of the season after which we should have some more new professionals in the squad at Turf Moor.
