Reserves win at Macc

After a disappointing first half that ended goalless we stepped it up after the break and went in front when Chris Anderson played a ball over the Macc defence for Alex MacDonald to lift over goalkeeper Cudworth.

It was Cudworth who kept Macclesfield in the game with a string of fine saves and it looked as though it might win them something when Roberts equalised for the home side on the hour.

But it was MacDonald, with his second of the game, who won it for the Clarets with a stunner from all of 35-yards. It could have been more but again we found Cudworth in top form.

So a 2-1 win in the end and now back home next week for the game against Wrexham.

The teams were;

Macclesfield: Cudworth, Montgomery, Thomas, Moss, Gaughan (Hewitt 81), Lowe, Wedgbury, Lonsdale, Roberts, Sappleton, Cook. Subs not used: Mason, Burgess, Davies.

Burnley: Craig Mawson, Richard Eckersley, Nik Kudiersky, Chris Lynch, Ed Williams, Ross Wilson, Chris Anderson, Alex-Ray Harvey, Michael King, Dominic Knowles, Alex MacDonald. Subs not used: Josh Cook, Curtis Woods, Dave Lynch, Joe McKee, Tommy Taylor, Mehdi Lazaar, Joe Jackson.
