Alan Mahon - back in action after injury in last night's reserve game
Preston's win over us last night extended their lead at the top of the league with second place Morecambe only managing a point from a 0-0 draw at Tranmere. That goalless game was very much the exception with no fewer than twenty goals scored in the other five games.

Manchester City were the big scorers on the night, beating Accrington 5-0 at the Fraser Eagle to exact some revenge from when sides met earlier in the season in Manchester, a game that Accrington won. City fielded a particularly young team and Jack Redshaw scored two of the goals for them with the others coming from Michael Day, James Poole and Greg Cunningham.

They weren't the only big winners away from home. Over at the Deva Stadium (or whatever it is called these days) Blackpool hit four past Chester, The Seasiders had a strong side out and they run out easy 4-0 winners with goals from Michael Flynn, David Fox and two from Keigan Parker.

Another big away winner was Carlisle. They beat Rochdale 3-0 with Danny Carlton, Luke Joyce and Jeff Smith scoring. Again Carlisle fielded a very strong side.

That leaves Bury v Wrexham and yet another away win although this time much closer. Matty Done and Marc Williams gave Wrexham the lead but Bury came back to level with goals from Dale Stephens and Jack Dorney.

Former Hartlepool striker Eifion Williams netted the winner for the Football League's bottom club but coach Joey Jones thought Bury had been the better side. The side was full of players who have recently lost their place in the first team following a lot of signings by new boss Brian Little and Jones said of them: "If these players are looking to get back into the first team they are going to have to do a lot better."

Burnley are off to Highbury next week, but this one is the home of Fleetwood and is where Blackpool currently play their Pontin's League games. The results and fixtures are shown below.
