Jones was one of the stars of the show as the Clarets second string all but wrapped up the points in a first half that saw us go in 3-0 up at the interval. It wasn't all one way traffic and more than once we were put under some pressure with young Irish goalkeeper Jonathan Sergeant making a couple of good saves.
It was midway through the half when we broke the deadlock and it was a good goal. Gudjonsson played a delightful ball for youth team striker Rob Turner, but the youngster still had a lot to do. He brought the ball under control and from a few yards outside the penalty box hit a shot home into the corner that gave the keeper no chance.
It was Turner again when we doubled the lead, this time getting a head to a Steve Jones cross and looping it into the top corner well out of the goalkeeper's reach. That wasn't it for the first half. Jones, playing on the right cut in and beat half the Blackpool defence before hitting home an excellent shot.
It had been a good half in front of the watching Steve Cotterill, but the second half never lived up the excitement of the first forty-five minutes. We created some early opportunities and both Akinbiyi and Turner went close, but the game faded away after the visitors claimed what was no more than a consolation goal.
Another win though, experience for some of the younger players, and a run out for six members of our first team squad. It's good to have the reserves back.
