Ade Akinbiyi - got the first goal
Steve Cotterill named a strong side, the sixteen on duty being those first team squad members currently available, and we looked all set for a comfortable night when an Ade Akinbiyi goal gave us the lead after five minutes.

We dominated the first half but couldn't get that second goal and just eight minutes into the second half the home side drew level with an own goal from recent signing David Unsworth. That led to some scrappy play but the Clarets came back strongly.

Wade Elliott added a second and James O'Connor completed the scoring with a diving header a couple of minutes from time to ensure the three points were ours.

Burnley finished the game with ten men when Alan Mahon limped off with an injury ten minutes from time. We are next in action at Accrington a week on Wednesday when we play Carlisle.

Tonight's teams were;

Wrexham: Michael Jones, Wes Baynes, Chris Marriott, Mike Williams, Gareth Evans (Lee Jones 82), Silvio Spann, Matt Crowell, Levi Mackin (Paul Williams 45), Juan Ugarte, Marc Williams (Mark Stewart 32), Josh Johnson. Subs not used: Tom Matischock, Jamie Price.

Burnley: Gabor Kiraly, John Spicer, Steven Caldwell (Clarke Carlisle 45), David Unsworth, Jon Harley, Wade Elliott, James O'Connor, Chris McCann (Stephen Jordan 45), Alan Mahon, Ade Akinbiyi, Andy Gray (Robbie Blake 45). Subs not used: Brian Jensen, Jay Rodriguez.
