Reserves come back twice to earn a point

Dale Underwood - scored the third goal
We could have been in front twice in the early stages but a speculative effort from Cayne Hanley flew wide before the same player failed to find the target with a header. But it soon all changed and we were very much on the back foot.

Shrewsbury got on top and the two trialists up front Oncome Sodje and Saheed Sankoff looked very strong. We fell two goals behind and it could have been worse, they had a goal disallowed, rightly so for handball, and Mark Crossley made two outstanding saves to keep the score down.

A heavy defeat looked as though it could be on the cards but our youngsters fought their way back into the game and we pulled a goal back before half time through Hanley, who had given the visiting defence a few problems.

By half time we had more than recovered and had gained the upper hand but were still a goal behind. That changed though when Lewis Craig finished well early in the second half to bring us level.

You would have backed us as the favourites at that point, Shrewsbury were very much second best, but they got themselves back in front after a mistake by keeper Crossley. He had such a good game, but in trying to get us going forward quickly he gave the ball away and had no chance of preventing the shot from going in.

He made amends soon after with a fine save, getting down low to his left, and got what he deserved when the Shrewsbury forward blazed high over the bar. That was just the encouragement we needed and we drew level again with another good goal from Dale Underwood.

That's how it ended, at 3-3, and the lads out there tonight deserve all the praise, we have turned out two very young sides this week for this level and they've done themselves proud in both games.

There is just one reserve game left this season, that will be played a week on Friday at Accrington when we play Chester City.
