Reserves and youths finish for Christmas

Rob Turner - ten goals in reserve and youth teams
The reserve team defeat leaves us fourth in the table, a point behind the next two and six points behind leaders Preston although we do have a game in hand on them.

The only other game in our league this week was at Wrexham where the home side were beaten 2-0 by Blackpool courtesy of two goals from Danny Mitchley although Wrexham were the better team on the night.

We're next in action on Wednesday 9th January when we travel to Highbury (that's Fleetwood and not Arsenal's old home) to play Blackpool.

Some of last Saturday's youth team games were called off because of frozen pitches, and that included our game at Carlisle which had initially been given the go ahead by the referee. Four of them did go ahead, with Blackpool again doing well with a 5-1 win at Oldham whilst there were also wins for Chester, Walsall and Wrexham.

This has led to the Clarets dropping down another two places in the table and we are now in the bottom half in tenth place although only one win from fifth place. Accrington Stanley are our next opponents on the first Saturday in January, that game coming six days before our big cup date against Arsenal to be played at Accrington's ground.
