Pools next for Clarets

We won through a couple of weeks ago against Rochdale but the tie between Mansfield and Hartlepool was called off and played two days ago with the League One club winning through.

There's no date for the tie as yet but the winners will play against either Hull or Wigan in the Northern Final after Wigan clinched their last four place with a 3-0 win over Carlisle on Friday.

In the league there was another slip up for leaders Blackpool. This time they went down to a 2-1 home defeat against Walsall and the points were enough to take the West Midlands side into second place above Macclesfield who surprisingly fell to defeat against strugglers Morecambe. Elsewhere there were wins for Port Vale, Preston and Wrexham whilst Rochdale and Stockport fought out a 3-3 draw.

The Clarets weren't in action. We should have been playing Wigan but the game was called off because of their rearranged cup tie against Carlisle and a new date will have to be found for the game. We are back in action this Saturday when we travel to Walsall.

We've still got ten league games to play besides cup ties and that means at least another two games with the Youth Alliance Cup and we have also reached the semi-final stage of the Lancashire FA Youth Cup. Our opponents in that are Wigan but again there is no date. The winners will play Preston or Blackpool in the final, and they meet at Bamber Bridge on Monday 7th April in their semi-final.
