Point for goalless reserves

Mark Yates - his reserve team are still looking for their first home goal
It was hardly the most entertaining of games for the crowd (or more accurately the small gathering) and it is difficult to recall when either goalkeeper was called into any serious action.

There were opportunities but neither side seemed able to be able to test the keeper with shots going wide and headers over the bar when there should have at least been efforts on target.

Brian Jensen had just the one save of any note to make during the first half and he dealt with it comfortably whilst at the other end coach Mark Yates did test the Bury keeper with one long range effort.

We did come close when Kyle Lafferty almost got on the end of a low cross from the right as he slid in at the far post but the ball just beat him and shortly after that Matt O’Neill hit a shot from distance that curled just over the bar.

Mark Yates came off at half time and before the hour mark we made a double substitution but it didn’t change things although we were very much on top during the second period.

Again though we failed to create much at all and the Bury goalkeeper had a relatively easy time despite much of the play was towards their goal.

It came as no surprise when the final whistle blew with the score still 0-0 with hardly a talking point of real note – still, it was better than staying at home to watch England in Azerbaijan.
