O'Neill and Vokes score in Huddersfield friendly

Sam Vokes scored the second goal

Billed as a development squad game, it was very much a first team fringe squad with players looking to impress the watching Sean Dyche who watched the game with Simon Weatherstone and Tony Loughlan taking charge of the team.

We were the better side in the first half with Sam Vokes particularly prominent and early in the second half he and Junior Stanislas both had early opportunities.

But it was full back O'Neill who gave us the lead who beat Ian Bennett with a shot from outside the box that the goalkeeper should have done better with.

Huddersfield responded and created two good opportunities but Brian Jensen dealt well with both. He firstly denied Scott Arfield and then Jamie Spencer who had been set up by Adam Hamill.

David Edgar should have doubled the lead, Vokes hit the woodwork twice and then Bennett redeemed himself to deny George Porter who had been set up by Alex MacDonald.

Porter and Joseph Mills were the architects of the second, setting up Vokes to hit home a right foot shot and complete the scoring.

Burnley team was: Brian Jensen, Luke O'Neill (Aryn Williams 80), Joseph Mills, David Edgar, Kevin Long, Steven Hewitt (Alex MacDonald 75), Marvin Bartley, Junior Stanislas, Sam Vokes, Danny Ings (George Porter 75), Keith Treacy.
