Oldham, under the charges of former Claret Tony Philliskirk, are enjoying a good season and this latest win has moved them above Walsall into second place. They are two points ahead although Walsall do have a game in hand.
They are still five points behind leaders Blackpool but with a game in hand and a good run now for Oldham could see them put the Seasiders under some pressure at the top.
Port Vale were the only other winners. Their victory at Wigan has seen them move up to fifth and just a couple of points behind one time leaders Rochdale who have lost their way after a terrific start to the season.
The remaining games ended in draws. Besides our 0-0 affair at Fleetwood there was a 2-2 draw between Wigan and Preston.
It's cup week this week with Port Vale, Rochdale and Walsall from our league still involved at the quarter-final stage.
That leaves a limited league programme of games that have previously been postponed. We had two pencilled in but today's home game against Carlisle has already been called off. On Saturday we will make a second attempt at playing the away game against Preston.
