Oldham go nap on opening day

The Latics' youth team have been one of the more prolific scoring teams in recent years and Tony Philliskirk's team were at it again from the off against a Morecambe side who will be hoping for a better season themselves after finishing in the bottom group in their first season in 2007/08.

Whilst the Clarets enjoyed their 4-2 win, there were also two goal victories for Blackpool, Walsall and Wrexham (all 2-0) with both Shrewsbury and Wigan earning themselves maximum points from one goal wins.

No sooner has the season got underway than we have no game this weekend,. The only game going ahead is that between Macclesfield and Carlisle.

Macc also have a midweek game to follow that against Wrexham but for the rest of us it will be a week on Saturday. That's when we play our first home league game at Gawthorpe against Morecambe.
