No joy for youth team in rearranged game

Connor Smith - scored our goal
Our game was hastily rearranged for this morning at Preston's training ground and the game gave both clubs the opportunity to climb one place in the table. It was the home side though who earned all three points with what proved to be a comfortable 5-1 win in the end.

We were soon 2-1 down but Connor Smith, who had scored our goal a week last Saturday in a 2-1 defeat against leaders Oldham, pulled one back during the first half, although by half time Preston were 3-1 in front.

Two further goals in the second half meant Preston moved above Carlisle, and with games in hand now look to have a good chance of finishing second in the table, below Oldham who already look certain winners.

After a run of five wins in six games, that's four successive defeats now, including the two cup defeats against Bury and Swindon. We'll look to get a win when we next play against Wigan this coming Saturday at Gawthorpe.
