No hat trick of wins for youth team

Jamie Frost forced the keeper into a 2nd half save

They scored one in each half, but it was difficult to understand just how they led at half time after a first half dominated by the young Clarets. Carlisle scored an opener on eight minutes but that was the only threat we saw from them throughout that first 45 minutes.

We'd already looked the better side before that early goal and we continued to do so but didn't come close to getting an equaliser anywhere near often enough. Even so, the scoreline at half time was in no way a reflection of how the game had gone.

However, things changed at the start of the second half and for the first twenty minutes or so we found ourselves second best and on the hour Carlisle doubled their lead to complete the scoring.

We looked a beaten side and although we did get back into things somewhat in the closing stages we couldn't find even a consolation goal. Jamie Frost saw an effort well saved and close to the end Ntumba Massanka should have been on the scoresheet.

He broke through to the left of goal but was fouled just inside the box. A very busy referee, I think there were four yellow cards, rightly played an advantage but the striker placed his shot wide of the goal.

We are next in action in a week's time when we play Preston away in another game that has previously been called off twice.

Today's team was: Callum Jakovlevs, Waqas Azam, Callum Richardson, Alex Whitmore, Andy Nugent, Christian Hill, Kevin Ly, Luke Daly, Brad Jackson, Jamie Frost, Ntumba Massanka.
