Joe Booth - played in the midfield
You quite often see parents at the reserve games watching their offspring and we initially thought Ian Moore had been dropped after seeing his dad turn up, apparently he was more interested in watching the opposition.

It wasn’t the most exciting of games but the Clarets probably should have won it in the second half after substitute Kyle Lafferty seemed to breath some life into the performance, the youngster is beginning to look a very good prospect indeed.

It was a scrappy opening with very little good play and a referee keen to break it up at any time but it was the Clarets who came closest to opening the scoring with a shot from the right hand side that was well saved by the Oldham keeper.

Oldham did get the ball in the net but the assistant had long been holding up his flag for offside and the whistle had gone long before the shot went in but we were grateful to Danny Coyne a couple of times before half time for keeping us in it.

The second half was much of a muchness with neither side able to put much together and it all got very scrappy but in the last twenty minutes it seemed to come to like with the introduction of Lafferty.

There seemed to be a sudden urgency in the play and twice in the closing minutes we could have won it. Firstly Lafferty himself made a good run into the box only for the last defender to get in and prevent him getting in a clear shot and then Chris McCann, now sporting blonde hair, should have done better than head over the bar from a corner.

The result was perhaps a fair one although the point does nothing for us in terms of league position, and we remain in seventh place.
