No change at top of Alliance after quiet week

Accrington beat Shrewsbury 2-1 on Friday. This is a game that was called off six days earlier but hastily re-arranged, the win taking Accrington up to ninth in the table. After a few seasons of struggle, things are looking better for them this season and that was their fifth league win in 2015/16.

We ended Preston's run of wins with a 3-0 victory against them last week at Chorley and they suffered another three goal defeat on Saturday, going down 5-2 at Rochdale, the home side moving up to tenth with jus their fourth win of the season.

A Tranmere win at Wigan would have seen them go behind leaders Walsall on goal difference, but they were beaten again and the defeat at Wigan has seen the Latics go above them into third place.

Tranmere were league leaders not that long ago having won seven of their first eight games, but this is a fourth successive defeat but such was their lead previously they remain only three points off the top.

We'd no game, but if we can follow up the Preston win with another three points at Wrexham it will move us up the table given we will start the game two points behind the Welsh club. It's one of seven games in a full fixture list this Saturday but I'd expect a young side to be involved given we have our FA Youth Cup tie against the Met Police two days later on the Turf.
