Nine goals take Clarets up one place

Liam Newman - scored twice in the 9-1 win against Morecambe
The win continued our excellent run in the league since we got over our difficult start. We've picked up no less than 22 points out of the last 24 and that's continued to move us up the table after dropping into joint bottom place at one point.

We moved ahead of Wigan, who were out of action, on Saturday and should this sort of form continue there is no reason why we can't move further up the table and turn it into yet another very good season at youth level.

There were just three other games played. Rochdale, who sit one place and four points above us, kept up their current run of form with a win over Port Vale. Oldham, with two points less than us, and Tranmere who, are a further point behind, were the other winners in the four games played.

Morecambe, bottom of the league ahead of the weekend, were able to escape last night when they faced Accrington, who had two points more, and beat them 1-0.

That result saw Accrington return to the bottom of the league again.

There is almost a full set of fixtures this weekend and Burnley are at home again when we play Port Vale at Gawthorpe on Saturday morning.
