Morecambe win it as Wrexham go second

Jonathan Sergeant - in goal for the Clarets against Bury
Morecambe's win on Monday left then just one win short of the title and that came at Accrington on Wednesday as a late goal from Aaron Taylor was enough to beat the Clarets second string.

It wasn't Chester's week. After losing to Morecambe on Monday they suffered another defeat on Wednesday by the same 2-1 score at Wrexham. Silvio Spann and Michael Proctor got the goals for the Welsh club whose first team are on the brink of relegation from the Football League.

This win took Wrexham second above Preston on goal difference and they have a game in hand. Wrexham have plenty of players to choose from, only this week manager Brian Little said the staff would have to be pruned with 39 players in the squad. Wrexham again included Mark Jones, a player linked with Burnley this week, in their reserve team.

In the final match of the week Tranmere won 2-1 at Blackpool. Mike Jones and Ash Taylor scored Tranmere's goals, both of them coming in the first half.

Just two games left for us now. We're at Carlisle next Wednesday and a week on Monday player a re-arranged home game against Accrington at Accrington.
