Man City and Reading join Arsenal in Under-21 semi-finals

Arsenal were the first team to go through when they beat Chelsea 1-0 on 27th January and they will now play Reading after the Royals beat Wolves yesterday 3-1 at Telford. Scorers for Reading were Gozie Ugwu (2) and Craig Tanner.

This afternoon, at Newcastle's training ground, it looked for a time as if Newcastle might go through. Their captain Michael Richardson, who has played League Two football with Accrington, scored in each half to give them a 2-0 lead, somewhat against the run of play.

City immediately pulled one back with a wonder strike from Sinan Bytyqi, and soon after a Devante Cole (son of ex-Claret Andrew) crossed for Jordy Hiwula to equalise.

With just over an hour gone the recovery was complete, as was the scoring, as City scored a third goal through a 25-yard Marcos Lopes shot to win the game 3-2.
