It's all very tight at the top of the league with Burnley, Walsall and Carlisle United all winning and that means only three points separates us from Carlisle who are in fourth place, and with fifth place Tranmere losing to the Clarets it is looking very likely that one of the top four will now go on to win the league.
Preston slip to second but Walsall must still be considered favourites. They beat Bury 4-2 and remain unbeaten all season. They are a couple of points behind us but do have a game in hand. Carlisle, now fourth but like the other three also previous leaders, have had a difficult time but returned to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
Elsewhere in the league there were wins for Blackpool, Rochdale, Shrewsbury Town and Port Vale. Two of those, Blackpool and Shrewsbury, like Macclesfield, are in the bottom six in the table and all but Shrewsbury's win at Accrington were unexpected.
We are on our travels this Saturday and face Shrewsbury away. Carlisle have no weekend game but the two closest to us are both in action with Preston at Wrexham and Walsall at home to bottom club Morecambe.
