Aryn Williams - finally able to make a debut
In the 2007/08 season it was Hartlepool and a season later it was Shrewsbury. Now, for the second season in succession we have drawn 0-0 against Wigan and gone on to lose in the shoot out. Last season it was 3-1 but this time we went out 3-2 after both sides had taken five penalties each.

Burnley were the better of the two sides on the day but couldn't quite get the breakthrough and when the final whistle went at the end of 90 minutes it was still 0-0 and once again the shoot out.

Josh Cook saved Wigan's first attempt after which Curtis Woods scored to give us a 1-0 lead. Joe McKee, back as a substitute after injury, also converted his effort but Steven Hewitt and Joe Jackson both missed. Cook saved another but Wigan scored their last to give them a 3-2 lead and then saw Mehdi Lazaar put his penalty over the bar.

The one real positive today was Aryn Williams finally getting his international clearance and making his debut.

Out of one cup, but Wednesday, weather permitting, will see us travel to Grimsby for the FA Youth Cup tie when hopefully it won't go to penalties.

Today's team was: Josh Cook, Aryn Williams, Alex Coleman, Curtis Woods, Ed Williams, Ross Wilson, Shay McCartan (Joe McKee 64), Steven Hewitt, Dave Lynch, Mehdi Lazaar, Joe Jackson.
