The Clarets had to come back from 2-1 down to beat Preston and it was a result that disappointed North End Director of Youth Football, and former Head of the Community Programme at Burnley, Dean Ramsdale.

"We deserved something out of the game and over the ninety minutes we created more chances than Burnley but at the end of the day we've been beaten with about fifteen minutes to go. They'll be delighted and we're disappointed.

"That's youth football, you play well for parts of the game and you get punished if you don't take your chances. We've not taken our chances but out of the two teams I think we've played the better football. If there were any neutrals at the game they would say that most of the good football came from us.

We won it though, and we needed to with those wins for Wrexham and Carlisle. The Welsh side beat Wigan who until recently were threatening at the top of the league, and Carlisle, who have still only lost that one game against us this season, were the victors at Blackpool.

Wrexham have the meanest defence in the league. They've conceded just nine goals this season, one less than Carlisle and four of Carlisle's were in the game against us.

We are next with thirteen conceded but we are well in front of the rest in terms of goals scored. We've scored forty now in ten league games and that's twelve more than next best Oldham.

It's a month away from Gawthorpe for us now with three successive away league games and a Youth Alliance Cup game at Shrewsbury between them. The first of the four is at Blackpool this coming Saturday. The latest results and the next set of fixtures are shown below.
