Marc Pugh - 13 goals in 8 games
Those three have been hanging onto the coat tails of the Clarets and as we went into the weekend games they were all three points behind us, having all lost one game each. But as we beat Walsall 2-1 with goals from Marc Pugh (his 13th in 8 games this season) and Kyle Lafferty there was good news from elsewhere.

The biggest surprise was Oldham whose only defeat to date had been at Gawthorpe. They were hammered 4-1 at Port Vale and slipped to fifth in the table, whilst the other two both drew.

That’s allowed Tranmere to step up into second place after their 3-0 home win against Blackpool, they along with the Clarets are the form team in the league right now.

And down at the other end of the table the bottom two met with Macclesfield winning their first game of the season against Shrewsbury.

The results from Saturday were,

Burnley 2 Walsall 1

Carlisle 2 Wrexham 0

Macclesfield 3 Shrewsbury 0

Port Vale 4 Oldham 1

Preston 1 Stockport 1

Rochdale 0 Chester 0

Tranmere 3 Blackpool 0

Wigan 2 Bury 2

This week sees us travel to take on bottom club Shrewsbury and the full fixtures for Saturday are,
