Late goals help youth team see off Stockport

Joe Jackson - scored the first goal
It was Joe Jackson who gave us the lead on the half hour and we took that one goal lead into the interval. However, midway through the second half the home side equalised and it did look as though the game might end with a point each as that scoreline remained until four minutes from time.

Then Burnley struck to take the game away from Stockport. It was new professional Dom Knowles who got the second and crucial goal with the clock showing 86 minutes, but the Clarets weren't done.

Before we reached 90 minutes we'd increased our lead with a Tommy Taylor goal and three minutes into stoppage time Knowles got his second to give us a 4-1 win. The result takes us within two points of fourth placed County and dependent on Oldham's result against Wrexham we could go fifth in the table.

The Burnley team was: Danny McDonald, Dean Overson, Jake McEneaney, Tom Anderson, Stephen Edwards, Dave Lynch, James Taylor (Tommy Taylor 75), Dom Knowles, Joe Jackson, Ross Wilson, Michael King (Joe McKee 62). Subs not used: Ben Woodhead, Curtis Woods.
