Late Gilchrist goal wins it for Clarets

Late winner from Jason Gilchrist

For the second week in succession we have beaten the league leaders, following up last week's 4-3 win against Carlisle with this 1-0 victory at Preston against Graham Alexander's team.

It was a very good all round team performance and we restricted Preston to very few chances although goalkeeper Callum Jakovlevs was forced into one very good save midway through the second half.

Burnley had two good penalty shouts turned down for fouls on Gilchrist and Lewis Nuttall, and it was top scorer Gilchrist who was on the mark again, latching on to a clearance from Luke Gallagher before hitting a shot high into the corner of the net from around 12 yards out.

That's four wins in four for the young Clarets who lined up this morning: Callum Jakovlevs, Charlie Holt, Christian Hill, Kevin Ly (Andreas Bianga 75), Luke Conlan, Luke Gallagher, Cameron Howieson, Luke Daly, Jason Gilchrist, Evan Galvin (Brad Jackson 77), Lewis Nuttall. Subs not used: Danny Eccles, Waqas Azam, Nathan Lowe.

We are next in action on Tuesday when we face Rochdale at Gawthorpe in the Lancashire FA Youth Cup and next Saturday play Walsall at home in the Youth Alliance Cup.
