Journey north for the youth team

Brad Jackson scored in last season's defeat at Carlisle

Both us and our hosts find ourselves lower in the table than we've been used to in previous years. We've both often been title chasers but tomorrow we go into the game in 9th place in the 17 team table while Carlisle are down in 14th position.

Last Saturday's win against Morecambe was our fourth of the season and ended a run of three defeats. Carlisle have won one less than us and their 10 point return is four less than us.

They are usually tight affairs and last season both games ended in one goal home wins. We travelled to Carlisle in September but were beaten 2-1 by the then league leaders with Brad Jackson getting our goal.

The return came in October at Gawthorpe and what a game that was. With Terry Pashley and Andy Farrell with the first team as the club searched for a new manager, goalkeeper coach Craig Mawson was in charge.

With Pash watching from the other side of the pitch we were 3-0 down at half time but then sensationally came back after the break to score four times and win the game 4-3. Jason Gilchrist got two of them with further goals from Jamie Frost and Lewis Nuttall.

A win tomorrow would move us up three places in the table ahead of Tranmere, Port Vale and Bury, none of whom have a game. A defeat would see us drop one place dependent on the result of the game between Wigan and Fleetwood.

The game will be played at Creighton Rugby Club, Sycamore Lane, Carlisle, CA1 3SR and kick off time is 11 a.m.
