Jay Rodriguez - scored Burnley's goal
This was our first game in the reserve league for just about ten weeks and it was a very young looking side that included Jay, Adam Kay, eight apprentices and trialist keeper Jonathan Lund from League One Leeds. The bench was made up of four apprentices and schoolboy goalkeeper Ben Woodhead.

Carlisle also included some young players, but they did field a much more experienced side than Burnley with the likes of Michael Bridges and Scott Dobie.

There were no goals in the first half, but Jay took advantage of a poor clearance after 55 minutes to give Burnley the lead and it looked as though we were heading for victory until the very last minute when Carlisle substitute Ryan Bowman headed home a Luke Joyce cross.

The result means that Carlisle remain second in the league with the Clarets in third place.

The teams were;

Carlisle: Mitchell, Blake, Cleary, G Smith (Davison 35), Swinglehurst, Tinnion, Joyce, Burns, Rothery, Bridges (Bowman 45), Dobie (McDougall 45). Subs not used: Gillespie, Seaton.

Burnley: Jonathan Lund, Dan Brown, Nik Kudiersky, Chris Lynch, Jake McEneaney, Dil Chaggar, Chris Anderson, Adam Kay, James Craggs (Michael King 82), Wes Fletcher, Jay Rodriguez. Subs not used: Ben Woodhead, Oliver Devenney, Dominic Knowles, Liam Newman.
