Joe Jackson - hat trick
It had been a disappointing first half with the young Clarets going in 1-0 down, but that all changed after the break after we came storming back into the game.

Just three minutes into that second half we were in front. Two minutes in and Joe Jackson was fouled in the box. He got up to score the penalty himself and a minute later scored again from a Joe McKee cross.

Walsall got back into it at 2-2 but on 70 minutes Jackson got onto the rebound from a Michael King shot to score from close range and complete his hat trick. He was immediately substitute and replaced by Liam Newman.

Joe hit three in a game during the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland in pre-season, and yesterday became the third Burnley player to score a hat trick in a Youth Alliance game during 2009/10.

Joe McKee scored three in the home win over Accrington whilst Dom Knowles scored hat tricks in the 9-1 win against Morecambe and the 4-4 draw against Tranmere (both at home).

In stoppage time a Newman shot was saved and this time Ross Wilson was on hand to score as the ball run loose to complete the scoring.

The Burnley team was: Danny McDonald, Ed Williams, Tom Anderson (Alex Coleman 13), Stephen Edwards (Dean Overson 45), Marcus Giglio, Ross Wilson, Joe McKee, Dave Lynch, Michael King, Dom Knowles, Joe Jackson (Liam Newman 71). Subs not used: Josh Cook, Neil Yadolahi.
