They clinched the title when Walsall, the only team who could catch them, were held to a draw in midweek and so the Welsh club win the league for the first time since 2009.
They'd only lost one of their first 20 games but two defeats in the last two games left it close once Preston and Rochdale had both won comfortably on Saturday to finish within two and three points respectively.
We are currently fourth but a fifth place finish looks the most likely with Walsall likely to need just a point from two remaining games to pass us.
Down at the other end of the table it's Accrington who take the wooden spoon that looked set, for most of the season, to be heading to Tranmere. The Wirral club have had a remarkable turn round after having just one point at the turn of the year and have lifted themselves three places taken them ahead of both Fleetwood and Morecambe as well as Accrington.
From our point of view, I think a return of 13 wins from 22 games is some achievement given the team we've had out this season both in terms of experience and age. Jason Gilchrist's goals will have to come from somewhere else next season but he's the only second year scholar to have played with any sort of regularity and so it will be a similar squad next season.
Well done to Wrexham. Despite being one of only two non-league teams in our group, again highlighting where we are at youth level because of our low EPPP rating, they must certainly be getting something right at youth level.
