Jay Rodriguez - got the first from the penalty spot
The game was played over three periods of 30 minutes each with the teams changing ends half way through the last third, and it gave the youth coaches the opportunity to try things out and check on the level of fitness of the squad.

We were very much on top during the early part of the game and led 2-0 at one point. The first came from a penalty expertly converted by Jay Rodriguez following a foul on Dale Underwood and that was during the first third of the game.

In the second third we doubled the lead with midfielder Connor Smith finishing from close range after the goalkeeper had saved really well from a Rob Turner header.

Bradford City came back in the last third to draw level, pulling one back from a free kick outside the box and then equalising with a long range effort that gave the keeper no chance. That was the end of the scoring.

The youngsters have three more pre-season games before the season gets underway in the Youth Alliance League, we await those fixtures, but none of the three games will be played locally.

The team today was: Jonathan Sergeant, Dean Stott, Jack Overson, Tom Blackler, Paul Casey, Dale Underwood, Connor Smith, Ash Young, Ali Akbar, Jay Rodriguez, Rob Turner. Subs (all used): Tom Bradley, Adam Kay, Joe O'Neill, Lewis Craig, trialist goalkeeper.
