Two goals for Jason Gilchrist

We came up against a very experienced Crewe team that included goalkeeper Steve Phillips, Mark Ellis, Adam Dugdale, Gregor Robertson, Lee Molyneux, Ajay Leitch-Smith and former Wigan and West Brom striker Nathan Ellington.

Brad Inman gave Alex the lead in the first half only for Jason Gilchrist to equalise for the Clarets, and the two teams went into the interval with the scores level at 1-1.

It was Crewe again who struck first after the break with Ellington restoring their lead but again Burnley again equalised before going on to score two late goals and win the game 4-2.

Gilchrist was again on the mark in the second half, as were Cameron Howieson and Nathan Lowe, in a Burnley team whose main experienced was provided by second year professionals Alex Coleman, Tom Anderson, Steven Hewitt and Archie Love.

The Burnley team was: Daniel Nizic, Cameron Dummigan, Alex Coleman, Tom Anderson, Luke Conlan, Trialist, Steven Hewitt, Archie Love, Cameron Howieson, Jamie Frost, Jason Gilchrist. Subs: Conor Mitchell, Waqas Azam, Jack Errington, Nathan Lowe, Luke Gallagher, Christian Hill, Trialist.
