Gallagher earns Clarets a draw at Derby

Luke Gallagher scored the Burnley goal

In a game that could have brought more goals, it was the 77th minute before Gallagher opened the scoring when he finished after a through ball from Micah Evans, the latest recruit after penning a deal last week until the end of the season.

Unfortunately, Derby came back three minutes later with an equaliser from Jamie Hanson to earn the home side a draw.

The defender hit a shot from 25-yards out that rattled the underside of the bar before dropping into the net.

Burnley would have won this game but for the performance of Saul Deeney in goal who made a number of outstanding saves.

It was a much more experienced Derby side than the young Clarets team who had only Steven Hewitt and Cameron Howieson with any first team experience.

The teams were;

Derby: Saul Deeney, Adam Smith, Farrend Rawson, Sam Berry, Jamie Hanson, Ben Davies, Jeff Hendrick (Andy Dales), Callum Ball, Tom Bennett, Johnny Russell (Niall Dawkins), Conor Sammon (Kwame Thomas). Sub not used: Jakub Spiriak.

Burnley: Danijel Nizic, Cameron Dummigan, Alex Coleman, Jack Errington, Kyle Brownhill, Micah Evans, Cameron Howieson, Steven Hewitt, Luke Gallagher, Trialist (Charlie Holt), Jason Gilchrist.
