First win of year for youth team

And the youths were also playing away, at Carlisle, and they won the game 2-1 and this was their first win since the 2-0 defeat of Wigan back in mid December when Liam Eves and Mark Rasmussen got the goals.

This time it was Damien Hindle who scored the goals having come on as a second half susbtitute with the Clarets trailing 1-0.

Damo got both as the Clarets turned it round after the break and would have completed his hat-trick but for a poor decision by the referee. His third goal was disallowed after the Carlisle defender collided with his own goalkeeper.

Again it was an inexperienced side with Andrew Waine on first team duty whilst some of the older players were kept on the bench.

But this result will help the Clarets push towards the top and possibly a place in the top Merit League. Much though will depend on how many of our remaining fixtures we can actually get played.

The team was: Michael Hale, Neil Trotman, Liam Eves, Ryan Townsend, Steven Richardson, Darryl Avery, Ross Preston, Tom Ince, Robert Grimes (Marc Pugh), Mark Davison (Damien Hindle), Pat McFadden (Richard Chaplow).
