Familiar look to Alliance table

They are three of the teams who, come the season's end, are usually up there with ourselves and Wrexham, although the Welsh club have got off to a difficult start this season with only one point from their opening six games.

They don't even have a point advantage over bottom club Morecambe any longer. With Wrexham having no game it gave Morecambe the chance to catch them and they did with their first point in a 0-0 draw against Wigan.

Up at the top end of the table, Rochdale were without a game and Walsall certainly took advantage, beating Carlisle in their game in hand to go within two points of the leaders. Just behind them Preston have moved into third place but they've played more games than any other side and during last week played twice, beating Fleetwood and then surprisingly going down at Bury on Saturday.

We would have been right behind them but fell to defeat at Blackpool 1-0. Our team on Saturday was: Callum Jakovlevs, Charlie Holt, Callum Richardson, Alex Whitmore, Waqas Azam, Brad Jackson, Luke Daly, Evan Galvin, Christian Hill, Brandon Wilson, Ntumba Massanka. Subs: Conor Mitchell, Nathan Lowe, Kevin Ly, Lewis Nuttall, Andreas Bianga.

Just one other game was played on Saturday and that brought Accrington an away win at Fleetwood, a result that lifted Stanley three places in the table to 12th.

There are no midweek fixtures in the league this week but a full programme on Saturday with Burnley hosting Wigan at Gawthorpe before going into cup action a week later with another visit to Blackpool.
