Duff returns for reserves

Michael Duff
Duff will line up in the centre of defence alongside Kevin Long, who signed for the Clarets at the beginning of January this year.

Duff won't be the only player in the side with first team experience as he is joined by goalkeeper Lee Grant, full backs Richard Eckersley and Brian Easton, midfielder Kevin McDonald and our two latest first team debutants Michael King and Wes Fletcher.

It's a strong looking reserve team that sees Chris Anderson and Dominic Knowles, two members of the development squad, only making the bench alongside four apprentices.

The team is: Lee Grant, Richard Eckersley, Michael Duff, Kevin Long, Brian Easton, Alex MacDonald, Kevin McDonald, Alex-Ray Harvey, Michael King, Wes Fletcher, Jay Rodriguez. Subs: Ben Woodhead, Ed Williams, Chris Anderson, Joe McKee, Joe Jackson.

There is no team news from opponents Accrington Stanley, but I think we can say with some certainly that Ray Putterill will not be in their line up. He played for the first team last week in the Johnstone Paints clash against Tranmere Rovers but Stanley have now been charged as the player started a 42 day suspension on 30th August, handed out by the FA for improper or insulting behaviour towards a match referee last April while playing for Halewood Town.

Accrington's reserve team, like Burnley's, have played just once this season and won. They beat Preston 1-0 three weeks ago at Bamber Bridge with a goal from Max Rodriguez.

Kick off tonight at Turf Moor is 7:00 p.m.
