Dreadful show brings defeat

Alex-Ray Harvey - suffered a facial injury
We fielded a side with both first team squad members and youth team players but after a decent enough start the performance dropped and I can't recall Wrexham keeper Anthony Williams ever having to make a save.

There were a couple of openings for us in that opening period and both fell to Mark Randall. However he failed to find the target with either and although we didn't know at the time it was the nearest we would come to a goal.

Wrexham took the lead on the half hour when Stephen Jordan allowed them to get in a right wing cross far too easily and the ball was just right for Alex Darlington to head them into the lead.

Things went worse for the Clarets when Alex-Ray Harvey suffered a facial injury in what looked like an accidental collision. He was down for some time before being helped from the field by the physio and club doctor and it looks as though he will need an x-ray to determine the damage.

The second half was a dire affair and at no stage did we ever look like getting back into it and with a quarter of an hour left Darlington added a second for Wrexham to complete the scoring.

The teams were;

Burnley: Gabor Kiraly, Dean Stott, Michael Duff, Chris Lynch, Stephen Jordan (Thomas Bradley 60), Adam Kay, Mark Randall (Dil Chaggar 45), John Spicer, Alex MacDonald, Rob Turner, Alex-Ray Harvey (Wes Fletcher 38). Subs not used: Jonathan Sergeant, Nik Kudiersky.

Wrexham: Anthony Williams, Robbie Garrett, Chris Marriott, Shaun Pejic, Conall Murtagh, Silvio Spann, Andy Fleming, Mark Jones (Kai Edwards 16), Josh Johnson, Mike Carvill (Jamie Price 65), Alex Darlington. Subs not used: Chris Maxwell, Johnny Hunt, Paul Williams.
