Draw for reserves

Last updated : 09 February 2005 By Tony Scholes

Alex Taylor - came closest to scoring
Neither keeper was troubled too much and the first half was pretty poor stuff with defences on top for much of the forty-five minutes. If anything we held the upper hand.

It opened up somewhat during the second half and Macclesfield were the first to come close when a shot from distance clipped the bar. After that they were restricted to playing on the break as the Clarets had most of the play but the nearest we came to a goal was one effort cleared off the line and then Alex Taylor, back form injury scuffing a shot just wide.

The good news for the Clarets was that Michael Duff came through and played the full ninety minutes in front of the watching Steve Cotterill whilst Ryan Townsend continued his comeback from injury with another full game.

We’ve dropped a place in the table because of Chester City’s shock 2-0 win at Bury this afternoon. Bury would have gone top with a victory but remain in second place behind Manchester United.

Our reserves are next in action a week today when we take on Blackpool before entertaining Manchester United on the following Monday, 21st February. Both these games will be played at the Interlink Express Stadium although the club are still to confirm that.

The teams today were,

Macclesfield: Steve Wilson, Wayne Cropper, Andy Smart, Joey Jones, Michael Briscoe, Andrew Teague, Steve Brackenridge, Neil Morgan, John Miles, Steve Owens, Mark Boyd. Subs: Marvin McDonald, Isak Reid, Christian Cooke, Rick Bailey, Tim Deasey.
