It was Tuesday night when Hull and Sunderland went above us. For Hull the game saw the latest comeback from injury for Jimmy Bullard, his first appearance since December, and he crowned it with a brilliant goal.

It came when Hull won a free kick which was played to Bullard by Nicky Featherstone. Bullard flicked the ball up before volleying into the top corner.

Mark Cullen scored a fortunate second right on half time and Hull completed the win against the bottom club with a third in the second half, a second for Cullen who this time rifled a shot into the top corner of the net from the edge of the box.

On the same night Sunderland and Liverpool battled out a 0-0 draw. Whilst the point saw home side Sunderland go above us, it was also enough to take Liverpool second, above Manchester City on goal difference.

Last night Blackburn held leaders Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at Leigh Genesis. It was a strong Blackburn team and they took the lead on 17 minutes when Junior Hoilett headed home a David Dunn corner.

They held the lead until right on half time when Ritchie De Laet volleyed in an equaliser from a Mame Biram Diouf cross. With no further goals in the second half the two teams had to settle for a point each.

The other two games were called off. Ours against Manchester City was unable to go ahead at Accrington last night and the night before the game between Everton and Bolton was called off at Halton.

Next week, weather and Crown Ground pitch permitting, we will try and start catching up on the other teams with two games against Manchester City and Everton. Our game the following week at Wigan could be re-scheduled with the first team now in action on the Wednesday.
