Disappointment as youth team run ends

Dan Brown - good performance in defence
A win at the training ground between the airport and tram terminus would have set a league and cup record and we got within inches of setting it too.

Not as though it was the best of performances, far from it, but having held them to 0-0 after playing against the win in the first half our hopes were high. However, we were far from our best in the second half but looked as though we'd clinched it when Wes Fletcher converted a penalty six minutes from time.

Unfortunately, with everyone looking at their watches a Blackpool shot hit the post, rolled along the line and hit the other post before coming out. Just as we thought we'd escaped the referee decided it had crossed the line and awarded the goal and so 1-1 it ended.

We were nowhere near our best in the game and our best players were defenders Dan Brown and Nik Kudiersky along with midfielder Chris Anderson.

Next week we are off to Rochdale where we will be hoping to get back to winning ways immediately.
