Defeat at Carlisle

Last updated : 25 April 2006 By Tony Scholes

The Clarets fielded no fewer than six Centre of Excellence players but only a first half goal separated the teams in what was a very even game against the side that has won the league and is going into a play off game on Wednesday.

Head of Youth Development Vince Overson was very pleased with the performance and said we deserved a draw from the game, he was delighted with the way the youngsters had played.

We move on now to Wednesday when we play Shrewsbury at Accrington when we are likely to turn out a similar inexperienced team.

The teams at Carlisle were,

Carlisle: Adam Bradley, Adam Clough, Neil Dalton (Jake Simpson 64), Billy Barr (Dan Kirkup 90), Martin Stewart, James Earl, Richie Hoban, Shaun Vipond, Pete Ferris, Paul Simpson, Andy Hardman (Martin Graham 46). Sub not used: Ashley Combe.

Burnley: Mark Crossley, Dean Stott, Tom Bradley (Ali Akbar 62), Rob Henry, Jack Overson (Ben Hoskin 68), Paul Casey, Nicky Platt, Connor Smith, Rob Turner, Cayne Hanley, Adam Kay (Alex Harvey 80). Subs not used: Dale Underwood, Lewis Craig.
