Clarets stay top after big win

Alex-Ray Harvey - leading scorer with four goals
As we were hitting Stockport for seven at Gawthorpe on Saturday morning, Wrexham retained second place with a 2-0 home win over Shrewsbury. They have dropped just the two points but Oldham and Wigan are one point behind with a game each in hand after winning their third games of the season. Oldham saw off Blackpool at home whilst Wigan hit four in a comfortable win at Walsall.

Elsewhere things have got tighter in the league. Before Saturday's games there were four clubs without a point, but only Accrington remain so after the other three after going down to Preston. The other three all got their seasons underway. Port Vale beat Tranmere and Morecambe won at Bury to move away from the bottom whilst Chester gained their first point with a draw at Macclesfield.

In the other game played Carlisle got their first win of the season with an easy 4-1 win at Rochdale, and it is Rochdale next for the Clarets and again it is at Gawthorpe this coming Saturday at the usual 11:00 a.m. kick off.
