After the game w sat above all of Carlisle, Oldham and Bury on goal difference but such have been our recent results that we are now six points behind Walsall in fourth place and, albeit with two games in hand, twelve points behind leaders Preston.
That fifth place was lost yesterday when Carlisle finally played their first league game of the year. They were only able to draw 2-2 against Fleetwood but it has taken them a point ahead of us in the table.
With Wrexham and Rochdale not in action last Saturday, Preston took the opportunity to increase their lead at the top of the league to five points. Their 2-1 victory at Port Vale was the narrowest win of the day.
Alongside our draw there were three other games played on Saturday. Macclesfield and Oldham both won 5-0, against Fleetwood and Morecambe, and Walsall hit six in a 6-2 win against our next opponents Bury.
This weekend there are four fixtures with only one of the higher placed teams in action, that's Rochdale in their local derby against Oldham.
