Remco van der Schaaf - down to one goal
Both us and Tranmere had won two and drawn one, the draw coming when the two sides met with Tranmere coming back from 3-0 down against us, and we led the league on goal difference.

Manchester City had taken the top spot for a day after beating Carlisle on Tuesday it is Tranmere now on top on goals scored after they easily beat Rochdale yesterday at Rossendale United's Dark Lane.

They won 3-0 with Charlie Barnett, a youngster signed from Liverpool in the summer, scored a hat trick. A free kick from him after thirteen minutes deceived everyone and went straight in to give Tranmere the lead, and he got his other two goals in the space of three minutes with around twenty minutes to go. The first of them was a 20-yard shot and he completed his hat trick with a penalty after he'd been fouled in the box.

Barnett wasn't the highest scorer this week, that was Manchester City's 17-year-old Jack Redshaw who scored four as they beat Carlisle 5-2 on Tuesday to temporarily go top.

Redshaw scored twice in the first thirteen minutes and it was 3-0 on 25 minutes when Adrian Cieslewicz netted. Redshaw scored further goals just either side of half time to give City a 5-0 advantage. Carlisle were a beaten side but they did score two late goals from Connor Tinnion and Grant Smith to reduced the deficit.

Morecambe won the league last season but this time they are struggling, and they went down again , this time at home to Blackpool. Michael D'Agostino had given the Seasiders the lead but Aaron Taylor brought Morecambe back into it early in the second half. But it was Blackpool's night and Jake Hobbs scored twice to complete the scoring and take the points back home down the Golden Mile.

That result has seen Morecambe drop into bottom place and that's because Accrington collected their first points of the season at home to Bury. Robbie Williams entertained the home crowd in the first half giving Accrington the lead and although Bury did equalise a second half goal from Andrew Smith gave the home side the points and a much higher place in the table.

So the Clarets are now second in the totesport.com League, maybe we should be thankful we are not playing in the incredibly named totesportcasino.com League Cup.

Next week sees us face possibly the toughest game of the season when we play Manchester City. They are a point behind the top two with a game in hand and are the only club who still have a 100% record.

This week's results and next week's fixtures are shown below. You might notice that Jay Rodriguez has moved from four to six goals. The reason for that is that the goal at Tranmere initially awarded to Remco van der Schaaf has now been credited to Jay meaning he scored a hat trick in that game. Remco's total has been reduced to one goal.
