Clarets keep three point lead

Captain Martin Reilly - his side are still three points clear at the top
Those three clubs have lost just once all season, Oldham losing theirs at Burnley, and so after six games our 100% record can still only keep us three points clear of those three chasing clubs.

Preston had the biggest win of all this week, they recorded a 4-1 win at Shrewsbury that saw them climb above Wigan on goal difference whilst Shrewsbury slipped to third from bottom whilst for Oldham, they were well below their average of five goals per game and scored just three in a 3-2 home victory over neighbours Rochdale.

The two biggest wins of the weekend saw Tranmere win 4-0 at Bury and Walsall beat Carlisle 5-1 at home.

Bury are now struggling at the bottom of this league and were easily beaten 4-0 by the Wirral club who had four different scorers and Walsall’s win enabled them to climb up to sixth in the table.

As the Clarets take on Walsall at home this coming Saturday, none of the three clubs just behind us are up against each other and so it could be a matter of needing to win to prevent all three of them from catching us.

The weekend results:
